Swedish Company Takes Stake in Alternative Fuel Venture
Trevor Williams
Atlanta - 11.20.08

A Swedish wood products company is taking part in $15 million alternative fuel joint venture that will create 50 jobs in Thomas County.

Woodlands Alternative Fuels is a partnership between World Wood Products of Stockholm, Sweden, and Woodlands Resources of Thomasville.

The company will use a recently purchased facility as a mill to process sawmill waste and pulpwood to make wood pellets for fuel and horse bedding, according to a Georgia Department of Economic Development press release.

About 60 percent of the fuel pellets are intended as exports to power plants around the world.
