The Caucasus School of Business in Tbilisi, founded by Georgia State University's Robinson College of Business, is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Robinson's Bijan Fazlollahi went to Tbilisi, capital of the Republic of Georgia, in 1996 to help the former Soviet nation to convert from a planned economy to a market economy.
He saw that "there was a real need to train a new generation of managers to assist Georgia's economic transition," according to a Robinson news release.
The Caucasus School of Business now has about 2,000 students. It has an MBA program and bachelor's of business administration. It has a joint program with Robinson that links the two Georgias by allowing students to spend two years each in Tbilisi and in Atlanta.
The capital cities are also linked by a sister city relationship.
Mr. Fazlollahi is director of the Center for Business Development in Transitional Economies at Robinson and a professor in the Institute of International Business.
