The president of
China's largest home electronics trade organization visited
Gwinnett County on Dec. 22 to meet with economic development leaders and learn about
Georgia's business climate.
Huo Dufang leads the
China Home Appliance Association, which represents several Chinese appliance manufacturers and distributors.
Qingdao, China-based
Hisense Co. Ltd., one of the top 10 electronic appliance manufacturers in China, put its
U.S. headquarters and a distribution center in
Suwanee in 2001.
That subsidiary,
Hisense USA Corp., helped the
Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce host a luncheon in honor of Ms. Huo. Economists from the county and the state addressed attendees, giving Ms. Huo and the appliance association an outlook on the Georgia economy.
Ms. Huo said the event promoted mutual understanding and laid out possible opportunities for further collaboration during this challenging time for the global economy.
“The China Home Appliance Association recognizes the importance of Hisense USA Corporation to its global footprint in the United States,” Ms. Huo said. “Meeting with economic development representatives in Gwinnett and Georgia helps us to better understand the opportunities available for Chinese and U.S. business development.”
After its stop in Georgia, the association went to the International Consumer Electronics Show in
Las Vegas, which features more than 2,000 exhibitors promoting their home appliance wares. Georgia and Gwinnett officials attended as guests of Hisense USA.
The company seeks to gradually introduce its products into the U.S. market. Hisense makes televisions, refrigerators, air-conditioners, wine coolers, freezers and mobile phones under three brands: Hisense,
Kelon and
Ronshen.
