A new website that provides access to key foreign assistance budget and appropriation data of the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development was launched Dec. 16.
Named the Foreign Assistance Dashboard, the site can be found at www.foreignassistance.gov
It provides the ability to examine, research and track U.S. government foreign assistance investments in response to President Obama’s Open Government Initiative and the principles of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.
More than 100 signatories including donor and developing-country governments, multilateral donor agencies, regional development banks and international agencies signed the declaration in 2005.
It represents the broadest consensus among the international community about how to make aid more effective.
On his first day in office, Jan. 21, 2009, Mr. Obama issued a Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government outlining his administration’s commitment to transparency in government activities.
