The Atlanta airport's new international terminal has won a design award from the Urban Land Institute's local chapter.
The Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal was honored with the institute's 2012 award of excellence during a Sept. 20 ceremony at the Atlanta History Center.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport shared the award with the Global Gateway development in College Park, which houses hotels, office space and the Georgia International Convention Center and connects by train to the airport.
The Urban Land Institute is a worldwide nonprofit group that promotes research and education on responsible land use. The local chapter has 900 members.
