United Parcel Service Inc. expanded its network of health-care distribution centers this quarter by adding three new health-care distribution facilities in Australia and China, the company announced Oct. 25.

The outposts in Sydney and the Chinese cities of Hangzhou and Shanghai expand UPS's footprint in the Asia-Pacific region with warehouses focusing on the needs of biotech, medical-device and pharmaceutical companies. The company opened a similar facility in Singapore last year.

"Asia is our fastest-growing market for health care and we are seeing increased activity in the region, especially in China, where a growing demand for acute and chronic care has driven the need for reliable, flexible and compliant supply chains to serve a highly dynamic market,” said Bill Hook, UPS's vice president of global health care logistics, in a news release.

UPS now operates 36 dedicated health-care facilities internationally, according to the company.
