Trevor Williams GlobalAtlanta's new blog will give readers access to new and compelling information they can't get anywhere else.

A few years ago, GlobalAtlanta traveled to Panama to report on how the canal's coming expansion would affect Georgia's ports. After tagging along with a logistics delegation, we came back brimming with information about cranes, trains, locks, ships and TEUs.

Even after compiling a series of articles that turned into a broad special report, we still lacked the appropriate venue to relate some of the more colorful aspects of the beautiful isthmian country.

We witnessed some compelling scenes—the carefully selected artwork hanging in the U.S. ambassador's residence, the line of container ships waiting on the horizon for their chance to transit the canal—but inevitably some of them slipped through the editorial cracks.

The Peachtree Passport blog is an effort to change that, to give our readers a relatively real-time glimpse of what we're learning and seeing around the corner and around the world as we continue our 18th year covering Atlanta's efforts to build an international profile.

Through our Atlanta-tinged lens, we'll look at business trends and cultural issues, relay trade tips and resources, comment from trips abroad, and introduce some of the key players in our city's global business scene.

Above all, we hope the Peachtree Passport is a portal to resources and personal connections that help our readers navigate the sometimes-tricky but often-promising world of global business.
