Texas Chicken, the Church’s Chicken brand outside the Americas, has made its move into New Zealand.

The first ever Texas Chicken in the country opened at a mall in the commercial center of Auckland in July, the first of 20 slated to come to the Pacific country over the next decade through an agreement with a local franchisee.

Cajun Operating Co., the parent company of Church’s, is run out of Atlanta. The company is owned by San Francisco-based private equity firm Friedman Fleischer & Lowe LLC and has more than 1,650 restaurants in 25 countries, including Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and many more.
