Georgia Ports Authority’s saw a 23 percent increase in trade with Israel last year, enough to warrant recognition from the top organization promoting business with the country in the Southeast U.S.

The America Israel Business Connector, or Conexx, honored the authority as its U.S. company of the year, not only for the uptick in trade, but for its ties with Zim, an Israeli based shipping line that ranks No. 5 in container volume at the ports of Savannah and Brunswick, according to the organization.

Georgia Ports Executive Director Griffith Lynch accepted the award June 2 at the Eagle Star Awards gala, which is held annually to highlight contributions to the U.S.-Israel relationship on an individual and corporate level.
