Georgia's ports posted record monthly container traffic in July, continuing a strong rebound from their 2009 slump, the Georgia Ports Authority announced Wednesday.
During the month, the Port of Savannah for the first time eclipsed 250,000 TEUs, or twenty-foot equivalent units, the standard industry measure for container traffic. The 20.7 percent increase over July 2009 was the eighth straight month in which traffic grew by at least 18 percent.
Movement of machinery and cars through the Port of Brunswick in July increased by 89.3 percent compared to the same month last year.
