Companies looking to navigate the rapid change occurring in India’s tax and infrastructure landscape can gain an updated overview at the upcoming India’s Supply Chain conference in metro Atlanta March 3.
India is on the cusp of substantial shifts to its logistics scene, with its federal government now in the planning stages of implementing the Goods and Services Tax, or GST, a standard federal tax that will replace levies on goods crossing state borders.
Analysts say removing this longstanding bureaucratic and economic hurdle will unleash more of India’s untapped market potential, especially in tandem with big investments planned in highways and rail infrastructure.
The event, to be held at Clayton State University and organized by the USA India Business Summit, will address warehousing and distribution in India, airport and port management, the cold chain, legal aspects of mergers and transfer pricing, and more.
Technology will be an area of focus as well, particularly how logistics companies use enterprise resource planning and other IT assets to better track and deploy resources.
Speakers are to include Mary Waters, deputy commissioner for international trade at the Georgia Department of Economic Development; Elliott Paige, director of air service development at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport; Avi Mukherjee, dean of the college of business at Clayton State University and many more from Georgia Tech, the Metro Atlanta Chamber and other organizations.
