Netherlands-based Vanderlande Industries, a maker of conveyance systems with installations at more than 600 airports worldwide, is set to expand its North American headquarters in Georgia, investing $59 million and hiring 500 in Marietta.
The Cobb County expansion will bring Vanderlande’s employment in the state up to 1,250, coming 23 years after it first entered the county. To accommodate the growth, it will open a new 152,600-square-foot facility in Marietta on Chastain Meadows Parkway.
The Dutch company’s systems are used for package sorting, with more than 50 million parcels sorted by its systems every day, as well as baggage handling — Vanderlande’s conveyors are installed at the top 20 airports globally, including the world’s busiest airport in Atlanta.
Vanderlande is well settled in the metro area, having made an acquisition in Calhoun in 2015 and used the state as a base for expansion across Latin America over the last decade.
It’s the latest Dutch investor to expand in the state in the years following the 2019 opening of the Netherlands Consulate General, which just unveiled a new Midtown office. Ammeraal Beltech, a light-weight conveyance systems manufacturer, pledged a $19 million factory in Buford in May.
“With the presence of Netherlands’ Consulate General for the Southeastern United States right here in Georgia, the Netherlands has long been a strategic partner for both trade and investment,” Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner Pat Wilson said in a news release.
More than 290 Dutch companies employ 10,700 people in the state, according to the department.
Vanderlande will post open positions at https://careers.vanderlande.com.
