#FranceAtlanta2021 | New French Cinema: Beyond Borders – French Women Filmmakers and Global Perspectives

This event presents three movies from the 2021 Young French Cinema program as well as a virtual roundtable discussion with the filmmakers. All three films were created by women writer-directors and feature characters from outside of France.

  • ร€ coeur battant (โ€œThe End of Loveโ€ by Keren Ben Rafael) is set in France and Israel;
  • Sous le ciel dโ€™Alice (โ€œThe Skies of Lebanonโ€ by Chloรฉ Mazlo) takes place in Beirut;
  • and Si le vent tombe (โ€œShould the Wind Dropโ€ by Nora Martirosyan) follows a French inspector in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The roundtable discussion will focus on storytelling, gender and French culture beyond Franceโ€™s borders.

This event is organized by the University of Georgiaโ€™s Film Studies Program and Willson Center for Humanities and Arts, UniFrance and Athens Cinรฉ, with the support of the Atlanta Office of the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France in the United States and the Alliance Franรงaise of Atlanta.
