UN DAY 2021: Creating a Blueprint for a Better Future: Drawdown Georgia and Local Climate Action

Date/Time: Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 4:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (approximately)

Event Location: Zoom Video Webinar. Panel Discussion (Virtual)

This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œCreating a Blueprint for a Better Futureโ€. This year #UN76 is dedicated to reminding us how interconnected the world is and that a threat anywhere- from the COVID-19 pandemic to intensifying impacts of climate change – is a threat everywhere.

UNA-Atlanta strongly believes that the U.S should not -and cannot- tackle global challenges alone. We all know that creating a blueprint for a better future can only be achieved through working together. In this context the 2030 Agenda needs involvement more than ever. That’s why this yearโ€™s UN Day will not only celebrate exemplary local effortsย but also showcase the state of art expertise and experience in addressing the challenges posed byย climate change. We believe in the value of bringing people together from diverse groups/organizations to foster multi-stakeholder conversations to shape our future together. As the world leaders meet at the United Nations this month, this reminds us that we still need to keep our promise and do our best to achieve the #GlobalGoals.

To dedicate this yearโ€™s UN Day celebration to the Drawdownย Georgia initiative, a state-specific climate solutions roadmap that has been primarilyย funded byย Ray C. Anderson Foundation.

This eventย willย highlight local and essential contributions of Georgians through multilevel actions, providing opportunity for observer agencies and interested parties to showcase progress and experience of their mitigation efforts. UNA-Atlanta always aims to inspire action, provide feedback, share, and advocate solutions through the lens of justice and equity.
