The Atlanta chapter of the Truman National Security Project, a nationwide community working to create innovative solutions to national-security problems, is seeking new applicants for this year’s crop of next-generation leaders.

The Truman project admits about 150 new members every year from around the nation, grouping each new entrant into one of three cohorts: security fellows, political partners and defense council.

Overall, the Truman project counts more than 2,000 members, who seek to influence policy from the grassroots level to the highest echelons of American diplomacy. They include military veterans, policy experts, political professionals and others interested in fostering America’s global leadership.

Applications are open through Aug. 22, and a second and final open house where prospective applicants can ask questions is planned virtually for Aug. 9. Sign up here for the virtual open house

The application requires a $50 fee, demographic information, answering six essay questions, two recommendation letters and a curriculum vitae. No age stipulations or minimum educational requirements are listed.

First-year members will be required to pay introductory dues of $350 and attend a three-day orientation in Washington. Financing options are available to keep fees and dues from being a hindrance to applications. Contact membership@trumanproject.org for financial information.
