Atlanta International School highlighted its (and the city’s) deep links to France en route to a goal-breaking fundraiser in support of need-based scholarships as the school enters its 40th year.
This year’s April 26 spring benefit, themed Rendez-Vous!, followed last year’s similarly successful Inspired by India event, continuing the tradition of celebrating vibrant countries and cultures well-represented in the school community, in this case both among its student body and within its curriculum.
French is among the many world languages AIS offers, with full immersion starting at 3 and 4 in the Early Learning Center, then moving to 50 percent immersion starting in 5K and beyond.
The swanky black-tie event sold more than 600 tickets, a record, as guests enjoyed dinner and dancing at the Flourish event center in Buckhead, just a few miles from the school’s main campus. An auction and corporate sponsorships from the likes of Google, Mike Rezi Nissan and contributed further to the haul.
Already, the school is gearing up for an impactful fundraiser in 2026, departing for one year from its country focus to highlight all things ATL in homage to its hometown and in celebration of the milestone birthday.
Atlanta International School opened its doors to students in 1985 — a full decade before the Olympic Games put the city on the map internationally. As it has grown, the school has contributed to the city’s rise as a center for global business and culture, helping a growing number of diplomats and expatriates get settled into the city.
In 2024, the school finalized the purchase of the 25-acre former Brandon Hall School campus along the Chattahoochee River in Sandy Springs, embarking on its next phase of growth. Plans call for that campus to offer boarding in the future; in the meantime, it offers recreational, conference and athletic facilities and is home to the prestigious Mouratoglou Tennis Academy.
