Startups NRW offers a snapshot of the ecosystem in the German state.

The German state of North Rhine-Westphalia is offering U.S. startups, including from Georgia, the chance to apply for a 10,000-euro grant that can help ease their entry into the European market.

Daniel Dueren, the Georgia-based representative of economic development agency NRW.Global Business, will lay out the benefits of the Startup Welcome Package during an Aug. 25 forum at the law offices of Burr + Forman in Atlanta.

The German state, which boasts 18 million people and a GDP larger than many European countries, along with 110,000 college graduates per year, is seeking less than 10-year-old companies below $50M in revenue with fewer than 250 employees. The grant can be used on rent (three months minimum), consulting services, tax advice, mentoring, coaching and more.

Qualifying companies cannot be registered in Germany at the time of the application.

Mr. Dueren will be joined by speakers from United Parcel Service Inc. CMS Law and Atlanta-based marketing tech platform Ready for Social at the reception, which will outline NRW’s business climate and other incentives for scaleups as well as established firms.

German Consul General Melanie Moltmann will provide opening remarks.

The event is free for startups and $100 for service providers.
