Atlanta-based Kaizen Analytix is acquiring an Indian information technology consultancy driving innovation in Japan.

Nihon Technology, which joined Kaizen officially this week, was founded to bring India’s considerable IT prowess to bear for Japan’s ongoing digital transformation.

T. Muthuvelan, who founded Chennai-based Nihon nearly 20 years ago, envisioned the company as a “a bridge between India’s innovation in technology and Japan’s commitment to quality.”

Japanese firms have invested heavily in India in disciplines ranging from automotive production to infrastructure, and Nihon has carved out a niche catering to manufacturing and retail companies with needs in SAP integration, digital transformation and cybersecurity. It operates offices in Tokyo and Osaka and regularly attends industry summits.

That focus ultimately attracted attention from Kaizen, which focuses on AI, data analytics and was seeking to strategically expand globally through complementary partnerships, said Krishna Arangode, the CEO and founder of Kaizen Analytix, which was recognized in 2020-22 among the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing privately held companies.

“Japan is a strategically important market that values trust, and long-term partnerships,” the Georgia Tech alum said in a news release, noting that Nihon has not only created a Japan-India delivery nexus but also has fostered “an execution mindset that aligns closely with Kaizen’s continuous improvement principles for people and process. Together, we are well positioned to support enterprises navigating increasingly complex transformation journeys.”

Executives said the combined company will benefit from Kaizen’s expertise in managing complex transformation projects across 24 industries, paired with Nihon’s links in Japan and its quality certification across enterprise modernization platforms.

Nihon, headquartered in Chennai’s Elnet Software City, carries multiple ISO certifications and offers technology consulting, managed services and global staffing solutions, specializing in helping companies set up and manage Global Capability Centres to deliver IT services that tailored to their business needs.

Perhaps tellingly, Kaizen also takes its name from the Japan-developed program for continuous improvement that is often implemented in manufacturing settings. Among its clients are Atlanta-based UPS, Cox, Novelis and many more.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
