After NAFTA, the Iran nuclear deal struck by President Barack Obama is probably the foreign policy item Donald J. Trump has criticized most throughout this year’s presidential campaign.
But is the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action” as bad he says, or on the other end, has it really “eliminated the Iranian nuclear program without firing a shot,” as Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Tim Kaine believes?
Specialists from government, academia and business will aim to untangle facts and rhetoric on on Thursday, Nov. 3, as the World Affairs Council of Atlanta brings together a panel titled “Global Impact of the Iran Deal — Opportunities and Obstacles,” at the law firm of Smith, Gambrell & Russell LLP.
One key issue to the discussion will be how U.S. companies, still hampered by sanctions addressed at Iran’s support for terrorism, and policies on human rights and missiles, could fall behind European companies that are now seeking opportunities in the country of nearly 80 million people.
