Cuba after Fidel

December 7, 2016 at 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Cuba is at a crossroad; while many Cubans mourn his death, others look at it as an opportunity for change. Donald Trump’s election also adds additional uncertainty for the future of U.S.-Cuba relations. He has reiterated his campaign promise to reverse Obama’s opening to Cuba. On December 15, we invite you to join the discussion of Cuba post-Fidel and the future of U.S.-Cuba relations once President Elected Trump takes the White House.

The Council President, Charles Shapiro, former Ambassador to Venezuela and Director for Cuba Affairs at the State Department, will discuss Cuba with Collin Laverty, President of Cuba Educational Travel and one of the most prominent Cuba experts in the country. Mariela Romero will moderate the conversation. Romero is the Community Empowerment director and Anchor at News Magazine Conexión, Univision 34.

The Council is a top-of-mind in Atlanta when it comes to understanding Cuba evolving issues and the future of this controversial, yet, fascinating country. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn more about the world.
