Russian Soul, a musical group from Ulyanovsk State University, is offering performances in the Southeast U.S. next month.

A 32-member delegation from Ulyanovsk, Russia, is scheduled to attend next month’s Cherry Blossom Festival in Macon. And in a possible bonus to Atlanta organizations, four members of the delegation, performers in a musical group called Russian Soul, hope to stay for an extra week to conduct additional performances.

Ulyanovsk, a city of about 600,000 on the Volga River, is a sister city of Macon. The president and rector of Ulyanovsk State University, along with student and faculty performers, the deputy mayor of Ulyanovsk and business leaders are expected to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival March 18-22.

There will be Russian musical and dance performances at Wesleyan College on Saturday, March 20, at 4 p.m. and March 21 at 7:30 p.m.

The four faculty members of Russian Soul want to stay an extra week for performances throughout the Southeast U.S., said Steve Farr, Wesleyan’s vice president for enrollment services. Wishing to gain additional exposure, Russian Soul is only seeking help with travel, lodging and meals, he said.

Groups interested in hosting a performance of Russian Soul should contact Mr. Farr at farrslcpa@cox.net.
