The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) celebrated its 85th annual meeting at the Georgia World Congress Center last week with a tribute to the city’s international diversity.  Local entertainers and exhibitors represented a wide array of cultures ranging from A (Australian) to Z (Zulu Dancers).  John Cary, the former chairman of the ACVB, was shown on a video shot in Shanghai where he is the office managing partner for Price Waterhouse.

But when all was said and done, it was Latin America and Atlanta’s future ties to the region which received the greatest fanfare.  The Brasileirissimo carnival troupe from Rio de Janeiro had attendees dancing both in the aisles between their luncheon seats and on stage before their performance was concluded.

Vincent Caminiti, senior vice president of sales at Delta Air Lines, also indicated Delta was about to embark on a comprehensive marketing direct mail campaign in the U.S. and Latin America.  We need to get the word out, he added of Delta’s plans to use the Atlanta Worldport hub as a a gateway to Latin America.
