BellSouth International is preparing to enter the mobile telecommunications market in Brazil when it is privatized, having explored ties to four companies in the largest South American country.
Robert Janssen, international sales and marketing director for the upcoming Fenasoft software trade show, said that BellSouth International has approached Banco Safra and Banespa banks, the conglomerate Grupo Arbi, and the television company RBS, to provide them with cellular telephone services when an expected privatization occurs. Mr. Janseen was speaking as a part of a business opportunity in Brazil seminar June 28.
Emmanuel Gyawu, business development analyst of BellSouth International who also addressed the seminar, said his company has spent five years courting Brazil, the “plum” of South America. The Brazilian government is expected to privatize its telecommunications sector by the end of the year.
