Atlanta-based IntercontinentalExchange, an electronic commodities exchange, announced June 4 that it entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Houston-based ChemConnect Inc.

ChemConnect is an electronic marketplace for U. S. natural gas liquids and chemicals, which include such products as ethane, propane, ethylene, propylene and benzene.

Intercontinental is also looking to acquire Chicago’s Board of Trade, having made an offer in March to acquire the board for $10.9 billion.
