THE CONTRACT TO SUPPLY ASSET CARE SOFTWARE FOR THE MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AT HONG KONG’S NEW CHEK LAP KOK AIRPORT, SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN APRIL 1998, HAS BEEN AWARDED TO TSW INTERNATIONAL, AN ATLANTA-BASED ASSET CARE SOFTWARE COMPANY.

CHRISTOPHER LANE, TSW PRESIDENT AND CEO, CALLED THE CONTRACT AN “LANDMARK WIN” FOR THE COMPANY, BECAUSE “CHEK LAP KOK HAS WORLD-WIDE VISIBILITY; AND BECAUSE EVERYTHING THERE IS BEING BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP, ALL ASSETS WILL BE CONTROLLED BY ONE CENTRAL MANAGEMENT POLICY.  IN ESSENCE, TSW WILL BE PROVIDING A SOFTWARE SYSTEM FOR EVERYTHING BUT THE PLANES.”

THE AMOUNT OF THE CONTRACT WAS NOT RELEASED.

DALLAS-BASED ELECTRONIC DATA SYSTEMS (EDS) WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DESIGN, DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.  EDS SELECTED TSW TO PROVIDE THE SOFTWARE IN PART BECAUSE THE ATLANTA COMPANY’S SIZE ALLOWS IT TO INVEST IN NEW ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES THAT ARE BEYOND THE RESOURCES OF SMALLER COMPANIES, SAID RAYMOND SO, MANAGING DIRECTOR OF EDS.

TSW, WITH REGIONAL OFFICES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE AND SINGAPORE, HAS MORE THAN 750 CLIENT SITES WORLDWIDE.  THE 20-YEAR-OLD COMPANY PROVIDES ASSET CARE SOFTWARE FOR MARKETS INCLUDING PROCESS AND DISCRETE MANUFACTURING, POWER GENERATION AND UTILITIES, TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND FACILITY MANAGEMENT
