Occupancy rates at luxury hotels in China are steady, said Doug Collins, CEO of America's Best Franchising.

An Atlanta-based hotel franchiser has opened a new five-star hotel in Yiwu, a Chinese city of about 2 million people 190 miles southwest of Shanghai.

The location is America’s Best Franchising Inc.‘s fourth hotel in China as the company continues to tap hospitality opportunities in the fast-growing market’s second-tier cities.

The eight-floor, 80-room hotel is the third in Yiwu that the company’s Chinese subsidiary has opened with its franchise partners. Another is located in Wuyi, about 250 miles from Shanghai.

“Our franchise partners are an important part of this growth and we expect to add five to 10 new properties a year in China for the next 10 years,” Doug Collins, chairman and CEO of America’s Best Franchising, said in a news release.

While the rest of the world sees sluggish growth, China’s hospitality market has been growing 6 to 7 percent per year, with high occupancy rates at luxury properties like the new Meisen Hotel in Yiwu, Mr. Collins said.

It includes meeting rooms, a lobby lounge, cafe, western-style restaurant, swimming pool, ball room, health club and other amenities.

America’s Best is the franchiser for 250 hotels in the United States and China as well as CanadaIndiaNigeria and Belize.
