Azerbaijan is pinning its hopes for attracting the 2020 Olympic Games on the expertise of an Atlanta-based consultancy.

Helios Partners, which has origins in Atlanta’s 1996 Olympic movement, will come up with a pitch for Baku, Azerbaijan’s capital. The country sits on the western shore of the Caspian Sea, just north of Iran and east of the Republic of Georgia.

Baku is hoping to succeed Rio de Janeiro, which will host the Summer Olympic Games in 2016.

Helios designed winning bids for SochiRussia, and PyeongchangSouth Korea, for the 2014 and 2018 games. The firm also spearheaded Russia’s successful 2018 FIFA World Cup bid.
