Japan-related organizations including the Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, the Japan-America Society of Georgia, the Consulate-General of Japan in Atlanta and the Georgia Japanese Language School have established a relief fund for the earthquake-stricken city of Kobe, Japan.

Although the American Red Cross and certain Japanese organizations have decided to organize their own relief funds, the Atlanta-based Japanese organizations have decided to organize their own efforts in recognition of their strong ties to the state of Georgia.  There are more than 350 Japanese business operations in the state, and some 5,000 Japanese nationals live here.

Checks should be made payable to JCCG/Kobe Earthquake Relief Fund and mail to:  The Japanese Chamber of Commerce of Georgia, 1230 Peachtree St., Suite 2440, Atlanta, Ga. 30309.
