Ford Motor Co. has started production of its first right hand drive Taurus at its Atlanta Assembly Plant for export beginning in 1996 with about 13,000 vehicles headed to Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Brunei.

This is the first time Ford of North America has integrated right hand drive vehciles into the initial design, engineering and manufacture of a passenger car development program.  Special engineering considerations included creating mirror-image versions of the instrument panel and integrated control panel and modifying floor pedals to fit on the right side of the car.
