Atlanta attorney Charlie Battle has been named the honorary consul for Monaco, which becomes the 64th country with a diplomatic post or trade office in Georgia.
Mr. Battle was in charge of external relations for the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games through the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. He has served as senior international adviser to several bid and host cities, including Sochi, Russia, host of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, according to an announcement by Chris Young, Georgia’s chief of protocol.
Monaco is a European country of about 30,000 people on the MediterraneanĀ Sea near the borders of France and Italy. It is best known for the resort town of Monte Carlo, which is famous for its gambling casino.
