The Brazilian Day Festival was held in Marietta on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 1-7 p.m. at and around the Brazilian steak house, Sal Grosso, to celebrate the country’s independence day.

The festival’s organizing committee is partnered with Brazil’s Consulate General and the Brazilian-American Chamber of Commerce of the Southeast to showcase the community’s talents and businesses.

This was the second festival following last year’s event that drew 1,000 participants. Conference organizers expect 3,000 to attend the celebration this year, which is open to the public and is free to attend.

Fabiana Di Pietro Xavier, the chamber’s executive director, told Global Atlanta that the chamber will be raffling off two Delta Air Lines Inc. business class tickets to South America.

Booths were set up around the restaurant representing Brazil’s consulate general, the chamber and a wide variety of services including medical exams and consultations, health and fitness assessments, diet and nutrition coaching, chiropractic adjustments, legal and immiggration services, insurance information and job postings.

Brazil’s independence is celebrated in September marking its independence from Portugal in 1823.
