The French-American Chamber of Commerce Southeast celebrated its 40th birthday — complete with a sheet cake — during a reception at the Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown Feb. 13.
For the sixth year, Global Atlanta worked with Christopher N. Smith, a Macon attorney and the honorary consul of Denmark in Georgia, to host the Global Trade and Investment Symposium, an annual look at how engagement with the global economy enriches Georgia from a business and cultural standpoint.
At a time of growing upheaval in international relations, a symposium in Macon earlier this month yet again focused on the opportunities rather than the threats of cross-border connections.
While reading, I was constantly amazed by the way the glitterati of the time were entranced by Humboldt, who by all accounts simultaneously informed, impressed, bemused (and sometimes annoyed) anyone who came into contact with him.
