The Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce has joined the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Southeast Region, in supporting the efforts of an Israeli public relations firm in Jerusalem to promote Atlanta as an investment location for Israeli high-tech companies.
The Metro Atlanta Chamber’s motive for co-hiring the Israeli PR firm, Media Plus Communications, is part of an Industries of the Mind marketing campaign to attract more technology companies to move to Atlanta, according to Sam Williams, president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber. The program is an ongoing push to attract high-tech workers and companies, domestic and international, to Georgia (please see details at www.atlantasmartcity.com).
Around 45 Israeli companies now have operations in Atlanta, and there are “twice that many that are prospects,” said Mr. Williams.
The Atlanta-based American-Israel Chamber has a similar goal of encouraging Israeli companies to set up offices in Atlanta, hence, contracting the PR firm. It also recently hired Sherwin Pomerantz, who also heads the Eastern Mediterranean Office of the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade & Tourism, as director of the chamber’s Jerusalem office to direct its efforts on the Israeli side.
Despite on-going conflict in Middle East, Israel–Atlanta business connections, especially in high-tech industries, are “stronger than ever,” according to Tom Glaser, president of the American-Israel Chamber here.
