The Maersk Sealand shipping company has added a second Savannah route to its cargo line, linking the Georgia port with the company’s Trans Atlantic route that joins Rotterdam, Netherlands; Bremerhaven, Germany; Felixtowne, England; Charleston, S.C. and Houston.

The Georgia Ports Authority in Savannah expects the new weekly Maersk service to add 30,000 containers to the port’s traffic each year.

This new line is the second for Maersk in Savannah after relocating its Far East route from Charleston to the Georgia port in June.
