Delta removed its code from flights operated by Russia's Aeroflot.

Delta Air Lines Inc. last Friday withdrew its codeshare agreement with Russia’s Aeroflot in the wake of the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

Delta operated no direct services to Ukraine or Russia, but the codeshare agreement allowed Aeroflot, a SkyTeam alliance partner, to sell tickets on Delta-operated services, and vice versa.

“We have removed our code from Aeroflot-operated services beyond Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport and removed Aeroflot’s code from Delta-operated services from Los Angeles and New York-JFK,” the airline said in a statement without much elaboration other than to say it would accommodate affected customers.

Since the move, Russia has closed its airspace to some European nations, a move many reciprocated, while U.S. airspace as of Tuesday remained open to flights from Russia.
