Delta Air Lines Inc. on Aug. 6 reported declines in both domestic and international traffic for the month of July compared to the same period last year. 

Domestic traffic decreased 1.6 year over year, while international dropped 3.9 percent.  

By cutting capacity on both domestic and international by 2.6 percent and 5 percent, respectively, Delta was able to increase load factors by 1 percent in each category.  Load factor is a standard gauge for airline passenger traffic, measuring the proportion of filled seats on all planes.
