“The Netherlands as an E-Commerce Gateway to Europe” will be discussed on Wednesday, April 19, when Allison Turner, area director for the U.S. Southeast at the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in New York will speak in Atlanta.

The northwestern European country is a center for e-commerce companies, said Ms. Turner, due to the multi-lingual capabilities of the Dutch, low cost office space and competitive telecommunications costs.

Ms. Turner, who will speak at a luncheon to be held at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead from 12 p.m.-2 p.m., also told GlobalFax that the NFIA has tentatively decided to open an office in Atlanta within a year, in part to strengthen relationships with information technology companies here.

“We want to have closer relationships with all types of companies in Atlanta,” she said. “However, the speed of setting up an Internet company overseas as compared with manufacturing operations, for instance, is very attractive.”

The NFIA helps companies utilize government incentives for foreign investment and assists in site selection and facilitating partnerships. Ms. Turner said that any companies interested in or already selling products over the Internet, as well as other kinds of companies seeking information about the Netherlands, should attend the luncheon.
