Emory University will launch a new scholarship program for foreign undergraduate students entering the freshman class in 2013.

The program is motivated by the private university’s goal to educate students in a “global community,” according to a statement on its website.

Students who are neither citizens nor U.S. permanent residents are eligible for the scholarships, which will range from partial to full tuition.

Emory will consider academic achievement, potential to contribute to a global campus community and financial need in choosing awardees. Weight will be given to those for whom costs would be a deterrent to pursuing an Emory education.
