19th Amendment: Unfinished Journey
August 26, 2020 at 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm

Featuring: Dr. Cathleen Cahill, Associate Professor, Penn State University
In conversation with: Naima Judge, Managing Director & Market Investment Executive, Bank of America Private Bank
Social Justice + LeadHERship Series
The struggle for women’s suffrage was far more complicated than we learned in school. It did not end when the 19th Amendment went into effect on August 26, 1920. It was not until the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act that African American, Hispanic and Native American women could vote across the United States. Cathleen Cahill and Naima Judge will discuss how women of color fought to be included and how they have impacted American politics.
Dr. Cathleen Cahill is an Associate Professor of History at Penn State University and the author of the forthcoming book Recasting the Vote: How Women of Color Transformed the Suffrage Movement.
Naima Judge is Managing Director & Market Investment Executive at Bank of America Private Bank.
