March 11, 2024 at 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

The annual 2024 Dunwoody Great Decisions Foreign Policy Lecture Series will take place via Zoom every Thursday evening from February 1 – March 21, 2024 at 7:00 PM. There is a fee to register for the virtual lecture series, and registration is required to receive the event link.

March 14, 2024, Topic: High Seas Treaty
Areas of the seas beyond national jurisdiction comprise the high seas, which face a degradation of ecosystems due to climate change and the increase in human activities, such as shipping, overfishing, pollution, and deep-sea mining. The recently negotiated High Seas Treaty, also known as the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction treaty, will attempt to address these issues. How difficult will it be to convince nations to participate?

Please note, topics and speakers are subject to change dates.

Great Decisions, presented by the Foreign Policy Association (FPA), highlights the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans each year. GCIV is the statewide coordinator for the nonpartisan program. To view the other 2024 topics or learn more about Great Decisions, visit Gciv.org/programs/gd.
