A New Cuba After the Castros?

August 2, 2018 at 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

The Castros are gone. Miguel Díaz-Canel is in. While a new president might not mean much in practice, it is still a symbolic moment for Cuba. President Díaz-Canel, handpicked by Raúl Castro, has no interest in upsetting the status-quo or restoring capitalism. Combined with President Trump’s views on how US-Cuba relations should go, Cuba is set to see persistent economic stagnation. It is time for another Council update on what is in for US-Cuba business and diplomatic relations, and the future of the small Cuban private sector that started taking shape under Raúl Castro.

Brothers Collin Laverty, Founder and President of Cuba Educational Travel and Michael Laverty, Managing Partner of Havana Strategies, are in Atlanta to discuss the future of U.S.-Cuba relations.
