Chanticleer, chorus
Chanticleer is known around the world as “an orchestra of voices” for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from countertenor to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, and from gospel to venturesome new music. A perennial patron favorite, nowhere does “America’s a cappella pride and joy” (Classics Today.com) sound better than in Spivey Hall’s superb acoustics.
Extending a long string of annual Spivey Hall appearances, Chanticleer and its celebrated Atlanta-based music director, William Fred Scott, offer a program entitled Heart of a Soldier, exploring a vast range of human emotion evoked by wartime experiences as expressed in music and verse from the Renaissance to the current day.
Tickets are priced at $65 (with discounts for subscribers, groups, students and Georgia educators), and are available for purchase now.
A Season Opening Celebration reception for the entire audience in honor of Chanticleer, hosted by the Spivey Hall Friends, will cap off the afternoon.
Chanticleer’s Spivey Hall performance is made possible through the generosity of Spivey Hall Friends Concert Sponsors Lauren A. Benevich, John W. Cooledge and Nick Jones.
