Join Global Atlanta August 6 for the third virtual edition of Consular Conversations, our ongoing series of interviews with consuls general working in the Southeast United States, sponsored by Miller & Martin PLLC.
Our monthly luncheons may be on indefinite hiatus, but these discussions are as important as ever at a time when cross-border collaboration is at a premium.

About our speakers:

Young-jun Kim received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Seoul National University in 1989 and went on to complete a masterโs degree in international politics from Georgia State University in 1995.
In 1998, Mr. Kim became Second Secretary at the Korean Embassy in Belgium, and in 2000, he became First Secretary at the Korean Embassy in Ethiopia. In 2006, Mr. Kim became Director of the European Union Trade Division. Two years later, he returned to the Korean Embassy in Belgium as Counsellor.
Mr. Kim continued his involvement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade by being appointed Deputy Director-General in the Bilateral Economic Affairs Bureau in 2013. Two years later, he was selected to be Director-General for International Economic Affairs.
In 2017, Mr. Kim served as a government representative for Arctic Affairs, and in January 2018, he was appointed the new Korean Consul General for the Southeastern United States.
Dr. Swati Vijay Kulkarni is a career diplomat who holds M.B.B.S. (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) degree from the prestigious Government Medical College, Nagpur in India. She joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1995.
Prior to her appointment as Consul General, Consulate General of India, Atlanta, she served as Regional Passport Officer, Mumbai, Maharashtra (2014-2018), Consul General in CGI Cape Town- South Africa (2012-2014), Deputy Head of Mission in Muscat, Oman (2008-2012).
Dr. Kulkarniโs previous overseas assignments were First Secretary in High Commission of India, London (2005-2008), where she successfully worked as a nodal officer for preventing discrimination for Indian Medical Graduates after the implementation of new UK Immigration rules; First Secretary in the High Commission of India, Port Louis, Mauritius (2001-2003); and as a Third Secretary (Language Trainee) in Embassy of India, Spain (1997-1998).
At Headquarters, Dr. Kulkarni worked as an Additional Private Secretary to the External Affairs Minister and later deputed as Regional Passport Officer, Pune, Maharashtra (1998-2001) and as Under Secretary looking after Austria, Cyprus, Greece, Slovenia, Switzerland, Liechtenstein & Holy See, Malta, Portugal, Ireland and Spain (2003-2005).
Dr. Kulkarni is married to Mr. Vijay Jayant Kulkarni who is a Merchant Mariner by profession and has two daughters.
Her interests include study of developmental issues, swimming, and tennis.
Consul General Nana Yuliana has been serving her duties as the Consul General since September 2017. Prior to her position as Consul General, she was the Director of Mid-career Diplomatic School at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia. From 2008-2015, she was the Counselor of Economic
Affairs at the Embassy of Indonesia in Bangkok and Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP).
Her bachelorโs degree was English Education from Institute of Teacherโs Training in Jakarta, the she pursued her masterโs degree in Applied Linguistic for Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia and International Studies from University of Indonesia in Jakarta. She completed her Doctoral Degree in Development Studies from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila,
Philippines, in 2006.
She is married to Imam Bogie Yudhaswara and they are blessed with two
children.
