Diaspora Diplomats: Reception Celebrating Atlanta’s African Consular Corps

Long an important gateway for business with Africa, Atlanta’s star is further on the rise in the continent, as evidenced by new flights, sister airport agreements, a presidential visit from Kenya and a high-level initiative positioning the city as the focal point of the U.S.-South African relationship. 

But perhaps no other act shows more how Africa’s 55 governments are seeing potential in the Peach State than the appointment of diplomats to represent their interests in Georgia. 

Of the 75 countries with consulates and trade offices in the state, 13 hail from Africa, including three new countries announced just in the last few months: Botswana, Zambia and Ghana.
