Celebrate the ever-changing German language on #germanlanguageday with German language learners across the Southeast during the Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta’s “Hurra! Wir leben noch: Vitale Sprache lebendig vermittelt” event series.
The 2021 program “Hurra! Wir leben noch: Vitale Sprache lebendig vermittelt” aims to provide German learners and teachers throughout the southeastern United States with a look into a modern image of the German language, shaped by globalization, technology, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Leading up to the event, middle and high schoolers from the Southeast had the opportunity to explore the lexical practice of loan words in the “#germanlanguageday student competition.” The winners of the competition will be announced and their videos will be shown at the virtual #germanlanguageday event.

Doug Lightfoot, Associate Professor of German and Linguistics at the University of Alabama, is the keynote speaker for the event.
