Go Eat Give: Destination Laos
March 19, 2016 at 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Join Go Eat Give for an evening “in” Laos to celebrate it’s culture, food, and fashion.
Join them on a culinary and cultural journey to Laos. Recently under new management, Pattaya Café now offers an authentic menu including Laos cuisine– one that displays a blend of flavors and textures unique to the region and its roots. Family style menu will include a Spicy Papaya Salad, Laos Sausage, Beef Jerky, Pad Lao, Soop Pak (vegetable salad), Bamboo Soup, Nam Khao (Laotian Crispy Rice Salad), Jasmine and Sticky Rice, and Nom Van for dessert.
Their guest speaker, Meiling Arounnarath is the 2016 President of the Laotian American Society. Arounnarath was a volunteer writer and editor for the national “Lao Roots Magazine” from 2007-2009. She was co-vice president of print for the North Carolina chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) in 2008 and was a treasurer for the Atlanta chapter of AAJA. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Print Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Georgia, where she also minored in Comparative Literature. And she later received her Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University.
Their entertainment for the evening will be led by Elizabeth Bee Vichathep. Elizabeth has been involved with the Laotian American Society (LAS) since 2004 and is currently the LAS Treasurer and Dance Instructor. At the age of 14, she was one of the first few students to dance as a LAS Natasinh dancer before the dance program became formally active. She has performed at more than 50 performances for LAS and for other events.
Destination Dinner ticket includes dinner, presentation, live entertainment, tax, and tips. Cash bar. Portion of proceeds benefit Go Eat Give, 501(c)(3) registered nonprofit organization that raises awareness of different cultures through travel, food and community service.
