Gung Ho! Industrial Co-ops in Wartime China: New Insights

Shang Yaning (Linda Shang), the speaker for this forum, is a respected scholar in the field of Chinese foreign relations before 1949. The focus of her research is the Gung Ho movement to develop industrial cooperatives during Chinaโs war against Japan, with special interest in Edgar and Helen Snow, who helped to establish this movement. Professor Shang is on leave during 2019 and is a Visiting Scholar at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. The connection with Prof. Shang began when USCPFA-Atlanta Co-President Prof. Doug Reynolds of Georgia State University sent some of his research materials to the Eighth Route Army Headquarters in Xiโan. Prof. Reynoldsโ doctoral dissertation at Columbia University was also on the Gung Ho movement. When Reynolds learned that Shang would in the U.S. this year, he began arranging for her to speak.
