Humanitarian Forum: Global Emergencies and Mental Health
October 21, 2016 at 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
As the humanitarian aid community addresses todays global crises, mental health is an important, yet often overlooked need that is relevant in all phases of emergency and development interventions.
This forum will provide an opportunity to reflect on current mental health challenges and practices in the context of disaster preparedness, capacity building, and social reconstruction as well as the mental health and wellness of aid workers. The discussion will aim to enhance public awareness of mental health issues in global emergencies, while also pointing towards impact-oriented, culturally sensitive approaches to prevention and care.
