Join the World Affairs Council of Atlanta for a keynote luncheon with Congressman Austin Scott as he shares insights on how U.S. foreign policy and global events impact key Georgia industries, from agriculture and manufacturing to defense and healthcare.
As Georgia’s longest-serving Republican congressman who sits on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, House Armed Services Committee, and House Committee on Agriculture, Congressman Scott has an insider’s view of U.S. foreign policy ranging from international trade and tariffs to USAID to military engagement in Ukraine, Yemen, and Gaza. He will discuss how decisions in Washington and events abroad impact American industries such as aerospace and defense, manufacturing and textiles, agricultural commodities such as pecans, cotton, and peanuts, timber production, and the 8th district’s growing medical services sector.

Congressman Austin Scott, U.S. Representative for Georgia’s Eighth Congressional District
Congressman Austin Scott is in his eighth term as the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s Eighth Congressional District, which covers central and south-central Georgia from just north of Macon to the Florida border. It includes the cities of Perry, Cordele, Tifton, Moultrie, Valdosta, and portions of Macon. Congressman Scott is the Vice Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities, Risk Management, and Credit. He focuses his work on issues important to Georgia’s farmers and rural communities, including increasing export market access and free trade agreements, bolstering grant programs for rural communities, strengthening crop insurance and disaster assistance programs, bridging the digital divide in rural America, and modernizing agencies within the committee’s jurisdiction like USDA and the CFTC. As a leading member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Scott fights to ensure we have the best equipped and trained military in the world, including the capability to combat adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran. He works with military leaders to strengthen the missions at Robins and Moody Air Force
