Kurt-Alexander Zeller, tenor and Michiko Otaki, piano concert

October 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Dr. Zeller is Clayton State University’s director of opera and vocal studies; he has performed throughout the United States, Spain, and Austria, and has appeared on German television, winning acclaim for his memorable characterizations as a singing actor. Dr. Otaki is CSU’s director of keyboard studies, and has performed and recorded with such renowned international ensembles as the Graffe String Quartet, Kodaly Quartet, Swiss Wind Quintet, Jose White Quartet, and Martinu Quartet, as well as English violist Roger Chase.  Together, the two artists will perform a program of classical music, including selections from Ludwig van Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte, Op.98, and traditional American compositions by Stephen Foster, including “Beautiful Dreamer” and “Gentle Annie.” Otaki will play on Spivey’s Hamburg Steinway Model D-274 concert grand piano, named “Clara” after composer Clara Wieck Schumann, so it is fitting that the recital program will also include several pieces by Schumann, including “Loreley,” and “Warum willst du and’re fragen.”

Admission to this Division of Music performance is free, with no tickets required.
